Defensive Line, Atlanta Falcons
Simpson is entering his third season with the Falcons - second as the defensive line (DT) coach. In 2019, his players totaled 246 tackles, including 33 for a loss, 18.0 sacks, 49 QB hits, and five forced fumbles. Simpson took a hiatus from his time at the Falcons in the 2018 season and went to the University of Miami to become the defensive line coach. In his first season with Atlanta in 2017, he helped the Falcons rank ninth in the NFL in both total defense and rushing defense as the team advanced to the NFC Divisional Playoffs while working as a defensive assistant.
